Product Description
Bendable fiberglass rods from IncomePultrusion combine glass-fiber reinforcement with a thermoset resin matrix to deliver a flexible, corrosion-resistant, non-conductive solid rod. These rods can bend and spring back without permanent deformation, which makes them useful for plant support, tent poles, electrical spacers, and custom fabrication projects. They are approximately one-fourth the weight of steel for an equal cross-section, so they are easier to transport and handle on site while still providing a tensile strength of 750-900 MPa and a modulus of elasticity of 46 GPa. Unlike steel or aluminum, they do not rust or conduct electricity, so they suit wet, chemical, or live-current environments.
Our pultruded FRP profiles are manufactured on controlled pultrusion machines with matched steel pultrusion dies, giving consistent fiber fraction and dimensional tolerances across batches. Whether you need standard 3 m lengths or custom coils up to 100 m, we can supply bendable fiberglass rods cut to your specification. Applications & Use Cases
Gardening & Agriculture
- Plant Support: Ideal for supporting tomatoes, beans, and flowering plants without damaging stems
- Trellises: Create custom-shaped supports that can be adjusted as plants grow
- Greenhouse Frames: Lightweight framework for small greenhouse structures
Outdoor Recreation
- Tent Poles: Flexible, lightweight support that springs back to shape
- Kite Frames: Sufficient strength for wind loads while maintaining low weight
- Fishing Rod Components: Combines strength with flexibility
Construction & Manufacturing
- Concrete Reinforcement: For applications where corrosion resistance matters, consider our FRP rebar range
- Electrical Applications: Safe to use around electrical components due to non-conductivity
- Spacers & Guides: Maintains position while allowing for some movement
Arts & Crafts
- Sculpture Frameworks: Bendable structure that holds its shape
- Costume Elements: Lightweight support for wearable designs
- Display Structures: Create custom display shapes that maintain position
Product Advantages
- Controlled Flexibility: Bends without breaking and returns to original shape when released. Smaller diameters (3-6mm) offer maximum flexibility, while larger diameters (10-32mm) provide more rigidity while still allowing some bend.
- Favorable Strength-to-Weight Ratio: A 6mm rod weighs only 50g per meter yet withstands over 27kN of tension.
- Corrosion Resistance: Does not rust or degrade when exposed to water, salt, or many chemicals, making these rods suitable for outdoor use.
- Electrical Safety: With dielectric properties of 3-6 and no voltage breakdown at 10kV, these rods are non-conductive and safe around electrical components.
- Temperature Stability: Maintains performance up to 116°C (240°F), with lower thermal expansion than metals.
- Low Maintenance Requirements: No painting, rust prevention, or special treatment is needed for typical service conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What diameters do bendable fiberglass rods come in?
Ten stock diameters: 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 10mm, 12.5mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, and 32mm, with custom sizes available on request.
What lengths are available?
3 m standard, with custom lengths up to 100 m available.
How strong are bendable fiberglass rods?
Tensile strength of 750-900 MPa with a modulus of elasticity of 46 GPa; strength is higher in smaller diameters.
How much weight can these bendable fiberglass rods support?
The load capacity depends on diameter and loading mode. A 6mm rod withstands over 27kN in direct tension, while a 32mm rod withstands more than 437kN. Horizontal mid-span capacity is lower-typically a fraction of the tensile value-so choose the diameter to match your application.
Will they break if I bend them too much?
Fiberglass rods can bend significantly before failure. Thinner rods (3-6mm) can often bend into a tight radius, while thicker rods have less flexibility. If bent within their elastic limit, they return to their original shape when released.
How do they compare to PVC pipes for DIY projects?
Fiberglass rods are stronger and more weather-resistant than PVC. While PVC pipes are hollow and can kink when bent, solid fiberglass rods flex smoothly and return to shape. Fiberglass also resists UV degradation better than unprotected PVC.
How do I cut these rods to the length I need?
Use a fine-toothed hacksaw or an abrasive cutting wheel. Wrap the cutting area with masking tape first to reduce fraying. Wear safety glasses and a dust mask, as fiberglass dust can irritate skin and lungs. Sand the cut edges smooth for safety.
What is the difference between solid and hollow fiberglass rods?
Solid rods provide maximum strength and durability. Hollow rods are lighter and more flexible but carry less load. For most structural and support applications, solid rods are recommended.
Do these rods conduct heat?
Fiberglass has low thermal conductivity, so it does not transfer heat as readily as metals. This makes it comfortable to handle in hot or cold weather and suitable where thermal insulation is beneficial.
Can I paint or color these rods?
Yes, fiberglass rods can be painted with epoxy or polyurethane-based paints. Light sanding before painting helps with adhesion. We also offer rods in several standard colors for color-coding or aesthetic matching.
