What Are FRP Anchor Bolts?
Our FRP anchor bolts are manufactured using pultruded FRP materials. We also supply pultruded FRP profiles, FRP rebar, pultrusion machines, and pultrusion dies for related industrial applications.
FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Polymer) anchor bolts are strong fasteners made from glass fibers embedded in special plastic. Unlike metal bolts, they don’t rust and are much lighter. Our FRP bolts are suited for securing structures to concrete or rock in places where normal steel bolts would fail due to rust or chemicals.

Types of FRP Anchor Bolts We Offer
Field-Laminated FRP Bolts
Made by wrapping special fiber fabric around a core and hardening it with resin right at your worksite. This means we can make custom shapes and sizes exactly where you need them. Available with carbon or E-glass fibers in diameters from 6.4mm to 38.1mm.
Pre-Fabricated FRP Bolts
Made in our factory with precise quality control. These come with a standard hex head and built-in flange (no separate washer needed). They resist chemicals, oil, don’t conduct electricity, and are easy to handle. Available in diameters from 6.4mm to 19.1mm and lengths from 12.7mm to 127mm.
Solid, Hollow and Self-Drilling Options
- Solid Bolts: For maximum strength in tunnels, mines, and regular construction
- Hollow Bolts: Work as both anchor and grouting pipe, making installation faster
- Self-Drilling Bolts: Suited for loose soil where pre-drilling holes would be difficult
Real-World Performance Factors
Rock Strength Effects
Tests show that our FRP bolts perform better in stronger rock:
- When rock cohesion increases from 0.71 MPa to 1.74 MPa, bolt bearing strength rises from 3.27 MPa to 4.85 MPa
- When rock friction angle increases from 21.8° to 51.24°, bolt bearing strength improves from 3.27 MPa to 7.14 MPa
Spacing Effects
How you space the bolts matters:
- Closer spacing (0.8m) gives better strength than wider spacing (2m)
- Preload improves performance (100 kN preload = 3.27 MPa bearing strength; 200 kN = 3.57 MPa)
Where FRP Anchor Bolts Work Best
Mining and Tunneling
Our FRP bolts are ideal for mines and tunnels because:
- They can be cut through later if needed (unlike steel bolts that damage cutting equipment)
- They don’t spark when struck (important in mines with explosive gases)
- They’re approximately 75% lighter than steel by weight, so workers can install them faster with less fatigue
- They resist corrosion in wet, acidic mine conditions
Coastal and Marine Structures
Salt water ruins steel bolts quickly, but our FRP bolts:
- Never rust even in saltwater spray
- Resist saltwater corrosion longer than many stainless steels in marine environments
- Hold their strength in wet conditions
- Can reduce replacement costs in corrosive service
Chemical Plants
Chemical factories need our FRP bolts because:
- They resist acids, bases, salts, and most chemicals
- Don’t create spark risks in flammable areas
- Provide long service life in compatible chemical environments
- Reduce need for regular replacement in corrosive environments
Concrete Structure Repair
When fixing damaged concrete:
- FRP bolts don’t create rust stains on concrete
- They secure FRP repair plates or wraps perfectly
- They don’t create “galvanic corrosion” (electrical problems between different metals)
- They maintain strength after concrete freeze/thaw cycles
Main Benefits of Our FRP Anchor Bolts
No Rust Ever
Unlike steel bolts that can rust in wet, salty, or chemical environments, our FRP bolts resist corrosion and maintain their mechanical properties in compatible service conditions.
Much Lighter Than Steel
At approximately 25% of the weight of equivalent steel bolts, our FRP anchors are easier to transport and install.
Electrically Non-Conductive
Our FRP bolts have low electrical conductivity. They are suited for:
- Electrical equipment mounting
- Places where lightning strikes are common
- Preventing stray electrical currents that cause corrosion
- Situations requiring electrical isolation
Customized For Your Project
We can make FRP anchor bolts to match your exact needs:
- Special lengths up to 10 meters
- Diameters from 4mm to 55mm
- Custom end fittings for unusual applications
- Color-coded for easy identification
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know what size FRP bolt I need?
Choose your bolt diameter based on the load it needs to support. For example, an 18mm bolt can handle about 160 kN of tensile load, while a 32mm bolt can support up to 400 kN. Our engineers can help you calculate the right size for your project.
How long will FRP anchor bolts last compared to steel?
In compatible service conditions, FRP bolts can provide a long service life. In corrosive environments such as coastal areas or chemical plants, they typically outlast many stainless steel alternatives.
Can I install FRP anchor bolts the same way as steel bolts?
Yes! You can use the same tools and techniques you’re already familiar with. The main difference is that FRP bolts are much lighter and easier to handle. For hollow bolts, you can grout through the bolt itself, saving an installation step.
What temperatures can FRP anchor bolts handle?
Our standard FRP bolts work well from -30°C to +80°C. For special high-temperature applications, we have versions that can withstand up to 120°C.
Are FRP bolts more expensive than steel?
The initial price of FRP bolts is typically higher than standard steel bolts. Lifecycle cost depends on installation, maintenance, and replacement schedules in the specific environment.
Can I cut FRP bolts on-site if they’re too long?
Yes! Unlike steel bolts that require special cutting equipment, you can cut our FRP bolts with standard handheld tools. This makes field adjustments quick and easy.
